Cost Narrative

Cost Narrative is an open-source workbench for engineering teams that need to explain a sudden rise in cloud or AI spending. It correlates billing anomalies with engineering events such as deploys, autoscaling, configuration changes and retry storms, and presents ranked hypotheses with confidence scores rather than a single answer.

It connects to AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management and OpenAI and Anthropic usage data, reads deploy events from GitHub and scaling events from Kubernetes, and runs self-hosted with Docker Compose so billing data stays on your own infrastructure.
